Day 1 - ARRIVAL
Arrive in Honolulu and transition into Hawaiian culture
- Refresh yourself after a long plane ride with a light lunch on the pool deck and snorkel tutorial in the pool.
- Continue to relax from a long day of travel by enjoying a tasty dinner while learning the Hula and enjoying a live outdoor traditional Hawaiian concert and performance.
Day 2 - UNDERSTANDING YOUR VALUE
Hawaii has been a culture that has always understood the importance and value of their land, ocean life, culture and people.
- We will travel to a 4,000-acre private nature reserve and working cattle ranch located on the eastern side of Oahu, Hawaii. It's known for its diverse terrain, ranging from lush valley areas and rainforests to open pastures and coastal. It is also the location of Jurassic Park and other famous Hollywood films. We will learn about the Hawaiian significance of rural resource management, culturally based practices, and food sustainability through fun hands on keiki challenges. Hawaiian Keiki challenges encompass the value of the environment, but also the value of oneself. They promote self-discovery, self-confidence, leadership skills, cooperation, teamwork in a positive and fun environment.
- Next it is time to buckle up as we enjoy a once in a lifetime voyage, as we will finish our day with a ride deep into scenic valleys, mountains and remote areas, often rambling through dirt roads, dusty trails and crossing seasonal streams. Learn Hawaiian history and legends as well as you will get see the valleys where over 200 Hollywood Movies and TV shows have been filmed over the past 75 years in an off-road ATV.
- Rinse off the dust and head to the pool for a Hawaiian pizza party. Attire: Swim suit
Day 3 THE GIFTS OF THE OCEAN AND THE LAND
Hawaii has created a community that supports the circle of life, knowing all living things are interconnected and in turn when nurturing our living environment we in turn nurture ourselves as well.
- Join the Hawaiian Dolphin team as we learn how the Hawaiian culture works to protect marine animals and their environments through experiential learning and scientific discovery in a hands-on encounter with the dolphins.
- The second half of the day we will immerse ourselves in Hawaiian culture as we partner with the University of Hawaii in the Ka Papa Lo’ i o Kanewai, a Hawaiian cultural outreach program that is dedicated to housing and sharing the Hawaiian school of knowledge. Students will participate in practices such as wetland Kalo and native Hawaiian plant cultivation and the preparation and meaning of cultural foods.
Day 4 THE LAND OF KING & QUEENS
The Kingdom of Hawaii was led by Kings and Queens that created a foundation of love for the environment, tradition and warriors. This legacy is exemplified in the history and monuments that still remain today.
- We will start our day off with a visit to the royal residence of the Hawaiian Kingdom. From the royal jewels to the throne room, we will explore the only monarchy of the United States that created the foundation and vision of the island.
- History continues as we travel to Pearl Harbor and receive a private tour of a WW2 Submarine and take a historical boat ride to the Pearl Harbor Memorial.
Day 5 LOCAL LIFE
Hawaiian local life revolves around the Aloha spirit, a way of life that emphasizes compassion, kindness, and mutual respect. Locals value family ( Ohana) and community are prioritized. The lifestyle is generally laid-back and focused on outdoor activities, enjoying nature,
and preserving Hawaiian cultural heritage.
- Today we live like a local as we start at a well known Hawaiian Farmers market for local crafts, foods and treats that you can only find on the island.
- Next, we will continue our local vision with the second half of the day with to attend a local Surf School learning the history of surfing and having the option to take a surf lesson
- We will finish the day with a community Barbecue enjoying the Tara plants we harvested days before.
Day 6 IN THE ACT OF CARING YOU WILL FIND BEAUTY
Hawaii boasts many nature preserves including ones that host indigenous and endangered species. These preserves allow for these endangered species to thrive through care and support from the Hawaiian community and philosophies.
- Today we will take in unimaginable views and challenges as we take on Diamond Head. Diamond Head is a prominent volcanic crater, or tuff cone, located on the island. It's known for its historic hiking trail, stunning coastal views, and military history. Hawaiians also call it Lēʻahi, which is thought to be derived from "lae 'ahi" because the ridgeline resembles a tuna's dorsal fin.
- We will end the day with an artistic project using shells, corals and environmental beads to create keepsake art as remembrance of our day.
Day 7 WARRIORS & CHIEFS
The ali'i ( Chiefs) governed each island and were responsible for maintaining order and overseeing the people. Koa Warriors, highly skilled and trained fighters, served the chiefs, protecting their lands and resources, and engaging in warfare when necessary.
June 9th
- Today we will travel to the most well known valley land in Hawaii, Waimea Valley for Na Paani Kahiko, Ancient Hawaiian Warrior Games. Through these traditional, active and challenging games we will link the past to the present. After the activities, we will refresh ourselves with a dip in the waterfall to enjoy a memorable swim.
- Next stop an authentic Hawaiian Lua. You will be entertained and in an immersive hands-on and delicious journey led through the Islands of Polynesia through the eyes of a chief.
- We will stop for Dessert on the North Shore at a popular surf spot that is known for its famous Hawaiian shaved ice and local artistic boutiques.
Day 8 HONU
In Hawaiian culture, sea turtles are called Honu and are considered to symbolize a guardian spirit, symbolizing protection, good luck, and wisdom. On our last day I hope all of you leave with wisdom about Hawaiian culture and the importance and impact you can leave on this earth by protecting life, valuing ourselves, leading as chiefs, and embracing community.
- Our last day in Hawaii will be filled with beauty and adventure. We will take a catamaran cruise to a reserve that is surrounded by jagged cliffs with lush green vegetation and a stunning backdrop for its crystal-clear waters. This bay is known for being home to a large variety of sea turtles that feed off the vegetation in the surrounding area. It is also lush with a diversity of fish who travel to the reserve to clean and feed off the algae on the turtle's shells. This will give us the rare opportunity to snorkel with the turtles and enjoy a diversity of fish a couple a feet away.
